Now that the COVID19 vaccines have started to roll out, hope is renewed for a return to normalcy. This includes going to the gym, and eventually enjoying classes.

Until then, some precautions have been proven effective in helping fight the spread of this pandemic and should be practiced even after everyone have been inoculated.

  1. Follow Social Distancing Guidelines: When exercising in public spaces, such as parks or gyms, make sure to maintain a safe distance from others. Follow the social distancing guidelines recommended by local health authorities, which typically involve staying at least 6 feet apart from others to reduce the risk of spreading viruses, including COVID-19.
  2. Practice Good Hygiene: Proper hygiene is essential to prevent the spread of germs during exercise. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after your workout. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. Avoid touching your face during exercise, and cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze.
  3. Clean and Disinfect Equipment: If you're using exercise equipment at a gym or fitness facility, make sure to clean and disinfect the equipment before and after use. Many gyms provide disinfectant wipes or sprays for this purpose. If you're exercising outdoors, bring your own towel or mat and avoid using shared equipment or touching surfaces with your bare hands.
  4. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to your body and be mindful of any signs of discomfort or pain during exercise. Avoid pushing yourself too hard or engaging in high-risk activities that could lead to injury. If you're new to exercise or trying a new form of exercise, start slowly and gradually increase intensity to avoid overexertion.

Remember, taking care of your body is a lifelong journey, and prioritizing safety is an essential part of that process. Stay vigilant, stay safe, and keep moving towards your fitness goals!
