Name: S. Stewart
Location: JFK Medical Center. Atlantis, FL
Improvement: 80+ lbs Weight Loss / 16.2% Reduction of Body Fat
Time: 6+ Months
Program: 2009 Total Transformation Challenge / 2009 Summer Challenge

When I started the transformation challenge here at JFK, I was very pessimistic about the whole thing. I faced many challenges and obstacles that I am proud to say have overcome. Thanks to my friends and family I have lost over 50 lbs. and feel better than I’ve ever had.

The biggest challenge for me was eating a proper diet and controlling the amount of sweets and soda that I normally would consume. Another obstacle I had to overcome was my drive to get out of the house and exercise. I used to be very lethargic, but now I feel full of energy and better about myself.

It all started with my friend and coworker David. He got me started on a diet and exercise program, and it motivated me to go to the next step. My family, friends and coworkers encouraged me every day to keep at it, keeping me on the right course.

With the change in lifestyle, the way I ate changed dramatically as well. The biggest change was balanced meals, and actually including a healthy breakfast, which I used to barely eat. When I did eat breakfast, it wasn’t a balanced one. I also cut soda, fast foods, and sweets from my diet completely. I must say I feel better about what I eat now than I ever did.

If I had to give any advice, it would simply be; Willpower. It’s all about mind over matter and forcing yourself to stay on the right path. While that is pretty generic and can cover a broad spectrum of things, it worked for me. I plan on staying on this path, and with the help of my friends and family, I know I can keep it up.
