Improvement: 10lbs. Weight Loss Time: 3 months Program: 2011 Total Transformation Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? My biggest challenge was getting started, committing to a healthy diet and completing my miles each week. What motivated you to stay on the course? My overall health was the number one motivator. I am determined to decrease my risk factors for heart disease and stroke. I want to run up a flight of stairs and not pass out before I get to the top. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! I have always been very conscious of what I ate. No red meat, limited fried foods and sweets. Always counting calories, and reading labels. Also limiting salt, sugar and ensuring you have a balanced diet rich with fruits, vegetables, whole grains & nuts is just a part of the plan. I started having 5 small meals daily which included some protein with each meal. This is not difficult, but needs persistence. We all have busy schedules so I always needed to plan ahead, after a while it becomes routine. I solicited the advice of a qualified dietician, that was extremely beneficial for me. What advice could you give to others that want the same results? There are so many diets and success stories about losing weight. The truth is it is a challenge staying the course. You have to have a strong desire to see this happen to you. You can lose 10 lbs. in 12 weeks and gain it all back in two. This has to be a commitment and a lifestyle change. You need to be committed to lose the weight for "you". It’s a slow start but stay the course and you will be rewarded handsomely (I did!). How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I have made a commitment to continue this lifestyle change to get stronger and reach my weight goal. Having a gym with a personal trainer like rami is quite remarkable. I encourage all my colleagues to join today. |
