Name: C. Colomine
Improvement: 30+lbs. Weight Loss Time: 3 months Program: 2011 Total Transformation Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? Not knowing whether I can lose the weight or not. What motivated you to stay on the course? I’d been putting on the weight over the past 3 years and waiting for it to miraculously come off. This occurred to me one day when I went to the beach with my 13-year-old son and I was unable to get up from where I sat on the sand without his help. I panicked since I am only a mid-aged woman and my health condition had deteriorated more rapidly than I had realized. I became aware of the danger of my weight problem and wanted to do something about it as quickly as possible. Lucky me! I found the gym at JFK Medical Center and joined EWC. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! I’ve made some sacrifices as far as the food I was addicted to by giving up white bread, pasta, fast food, potatoes, rice, and sweet treats. My rule of thumb is “never eat right before bedtime.” What advice could you give to others that want the same results? Join the Employee Wellness Center! Since I joined EWC, I am able to enthusiastically work out 2 to 3 times a week with the assistance of Rami, my supportive and knowledgeable trainer. Now, I am able to actively do things and enjoy time spent with my son, having strengthened my health. The best part is not only how much better I look now, but how much better I feel and how my blood work went from teetering borderline numbers to completely normal ranges. How is this experience going to affect you going forward? As a result of the challenges and sacrifices I’ve made, I’ve lost a total of 36 lbs within 10 months. While I’ve been a part of EWC’s “Transformation Challenge program,” I’ve lost 10 lbs and the dread of going to work out on a regular basis! Looking forward, I plan to continue my exercise routine (i.e., 2-3 times a week), and maintain good eating habits (i.e. drinking a lot of water and eating colorful fruits and vegetables). |
