Name: A. Lander
Improvement: 20lbs. Weight Loss Time: 3 months Program: 2011 Total Transformation Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? My biggest challenge was Getting started, knowing I have some health problems like sciatic nerve and knees problem. Thinking if I can be able to do the challenges week after week. What motivated you to stay on the course? First of all is to work on my high cholesterol. Then I was seeing good results every week like weight loss, looking better and feeling better. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! I changed my diet a lot. I limit my food intake. I ate more fruits and vegetables. Being a Filipino we love to eat rice and noodles (pancit) and I switched the white rice to brown rice so with the white bread to whole wheat and crackers. Most breakfasts I ate oatmeal with 2% milk, raisins or dried cranberries & banana. On weekends I have spinach omelet from egg beaters. Cut down salt and soy sauce on my cooking. Do not eat dinner later than 6:30 PM. I ate more lean meat, chicken & fish no fried food, mostly baked or barbecued. For snacks I have almond (my best friend won’t leave the house w/o it), nuts, fruits & granola bars. No soda! Instead I drank lots of water and hot tea after each meal. I went easy on wine. What advice could you give to others that want the same results? Never give up, because the harder you work the better your results are. Do lots of activities like walking, swimming and weight training. Go to JFK Wellness Center; it is free. You got nothing to lose. Instead it will benefit you in the future. How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I will try to maintain my health, and for the hard work I’ve done I will try to stay on course. |
