I still cant find that e-mail from one of my Surgical Services team members informing
me of my need to get up to the Wellness & do my challenges to catch up with the rest
of the team. But maybe it is for the better, as I would like to forget those weak &
threatening times from my team member who have now become my best friends (but who knows if we would still be friends if I didn't get my 1,000 points -I think only
Gretchen would have talked to me even if I was sank the team into a loss)
My biggest challenge with this years TOTAL TRANSFORMATION 2008 was the Challenges themselves. Last year, I lost weight & totally transformed my life by just the tremendous walking requirements that Rami insisted I had to do each week starting at 6 miles for one week. That was nothing compared to the newest addition from our transformational manager, no not Rami & Jodi's addition-Yasmeen, but Rami added these Crazy Challenges to the program. It is only this week that I finally understood how he set up his point system.
What motivated me to get my 1.000 points was the one & only 8 teammates who daily
reminded me of my lagging behind. It was so different from last year as I had to have
someone to motivate just to arrive 2x's a week in the Wellness center to do my Speedline.
Inquires of my participation in the Wellness through e-mails on Meditech & outlook, in the lounge as I ate, for the past 12 weeks it has been pure hell, but I am the better for it.
As far as my diet I started a new program for my health. I was introduced to a nutritional
cleansing system called Isagenix which had a lot of Vitamin B12 which gave me energy to fight off the attacks of my interventionalist team members who watched me at each in-service to see if I would eat a donut that a sales representative would bring in. One time during the last few weeks & I was 400 points behind I tried to sneak a 1/2 of a doughnut only to find Mandy & Gretchen in the OR lounge staring at me. Needless to say I it was not a joyous occasion choking down that chocolate doughnut with them two in the room questioning my total transformation scores.
Best advice I would give to someone is to just START the program. Getting past the
interview with the EKG, then the instructions on Speedline weight training, & reminding
yourself to get up there so Rami can see you to add to your score was just my 2007
experience. THIS year 2008, I found that Rami pushed me to my limits or so I thought, he told me to attempt to do 200 lounges not just the minimum & I could achieve it. He was right! I did it all the max expectations which with in the last week helped me get my 1,000 points to confirm my teams victory.
2008 Total Transformation has definitely affected me to continue to push my muscles to
their limits. I asked Rami to be my personal trainer this summer to help me get some upper body strength as I did not do one triceps challenge not even achieve the minimum of 25 pull downs with 30% of my weight. I was so weak I could only do 25 pull downs if just used the bar without any weights whatsoever. I also think if I had more upper body strength I could get rid of my head & neck aches that I have weekly, so I see more health in my future thanks to Rami:)
