What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
Well, I've been battling weight loss for years. I consider myself a very active woman, but weight doesn't seem to move. When we start talking about it is when we realize we're not alone. The trends for fitness seem to be growing but weights still go up.
My biggest obstacles seem to be my social life, my long hours at work with too many snacks, hypothyroid, and approaching 60 doesn't help.
What motivated you to stay on the course?
My strongest motivation is health even more than appearance. Living to be a cool grandma is so important. I love to play and be silly. Running with them in the park and playing games. Retirement with my husband and traveling is a goal. We have to be healthy to do that.
Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
My diet did change. I felt more accountable being weighed every week. I gave up alcohol, not that I drank that much. I only drink water. (64 0z/day) Cutting carbohydrates for me is essential, not easy. I use stevia for sweetness. A protein and vegetable for meals. I'm very strict with pasta. My battle is chocolate. I'm carrying a pure protein bar during the day when I need chocolate.
What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
Personally, I didn't want to do this transformation. My friends talked me into it. I'm glad they did. Be true to yourself. I realized it's about me and no one else. I can't compete with the young kids. Pick up a sport you love. I love biking. I have been trying to bike 40 miles a week, as I love the outdoors. I've got friends calling me to bike with me. It becomes a fun group. It's also a great outlet for stress.
How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
Going forward, I'm trying to continue with Rami and his TTC. He's a great motivator and encourager. I didn't want to fail. Failing is never trying.
