Name: J. Vargas
Improvement: 15 lbs Weight Loss
Time: 3 months
Program: 2016 Total Transformation Challenge

What motivated you to stay on the course?
I think what motivated me most about staying in the game was telling myself not to give up.  When you see that many people participating as a group and all working together, then we all share one thing in common which is to finish the challenge. Whether it's being one of the best or just finishing as a finalist. Also, having my husband there to push me every step of the way was great. Not only was he able to push me but I also was able to push him so we both can succeed.

Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
My diet has changed drastically. Growing up in a Spanish family we are so used to eating rice on a daily basis for dinner. That’s no longer the case. I have many more vegetables portions as well as salad for dinner or lunch. Stopped drinking soda and continued with water. Eating out was always a struggle but now less eating out and more home cooked meals to watch the portions.  I reduced eating rice, bread, pasta to 2 a week instead of 5 times a week.

What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
The advice I can give others that want to succeed in this program is “Don't give up”! I was looking forward to every weigh-in because I know that it will reflect everything I did the week before and it will not go up, maybe down, even as little as 3 ounces! You will be motivated by the team work and the people around you who all share the same goal. Psych yourself to do your best! I used to tell myself before I went to boot camps “never let the fear of giving up, keep you from doing your best”

How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
Going forward, this experience will not only keep me in check with my portions and what I eat, but also keep going to the gym and staying energized. This wasn't only to help me with my weight but to challenge me with the things I never thought I could do, like a 3 minute plank. I pushed hard and I can say I am happy with my outcome.
