Name: K. Major
Improvement: 5% Body Fat Reduction Time: 3 months Program: 2019 Total Transformation Challenge - Summer Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? My biggest obstacle/challenge was stopping unhealthy snacking and making time to workout. As a mom of 4 kids snacking was the only chance I would get to eat. Disciplining myself to make time for me by meal prepping and planning. I stopped thinking of how tired I was and how little time I had and just started doing. What motivated you to stay on the course? My energy levels began to increase my body began to change in ways I never thought I'd see again. My daughters noticed I was stronger, happier and healthier. I saw that the best way to teach them healthy habits and to be the best they can be was live it myself. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! My diet changed COMPLETELY! With the tools and meal preps provided I did not feel hungry or crave the things I used to. Before starting the challenge I skipped breakfast, maybe a banana here and there, either skipped lunch or ate completely high in fat high in carbs and then over ate at dinner and snacked on things like cookies, popcorn, anything cheesy, and any snack I had for my kids. Now the first thing I do in the mornings is make myself a bowl of oatmeal with vanilla protein powder and blueberries and I'm full and I feel just as energized as when I would eat nothing and gulp down 2 cups of coffee before 8am. My energy lasted with the food I was consuming. I swapped my cookies and kettle corn and late night snacking for healthy trail mix packs with nuts and dried fruit, snap peas, carrots, spinach egg muffins with hot sauce, cottage cheese and fruit, an apple with peanut butter and flavored carbonated water. What advice could you give to others that want the same results? My advice is prep and plan. Prep your meals plan your time to go to the gym. Stop thinking about the “I'm too busy, I'm too tired, and I have too much to do”. As a Mom I had to remember to do something for me and take time for me and in choosing my workouts as my me time I gained so much more than results for me. I am happier with how I look and feel (who knew I could weigh as much as I did as a sophomore in High school over 15 years ago!!) I have more energy to keep up with 4 Little but very busy bodies and more energy to get through my day at work without being completely drained at the end leaving more time with my family. How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I'm taking so much away from this challenge aside from being more confident. I am going to continue to train and stay in shape and stay healthy. I don’t want to go backward but continue growing and moving forward. I have new goals and new challenges for myself now that I have learned what I did during this challenge. |
