Name: S. Hamilton
Improvement: 5+% Reduction of Body Fat Time: 3 months Program: 2017 Total Transformation Challenge - Summer Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? Consistency! Making myself stick to this new change/challenge/obstacle in my life! I would start and stop but I never gave up on my goal to live a healthy lifestyle; like exercising two or three times a week, eating more healthier (I had to start cooking and that was a challenge) and making the weigh ins! What motivated you to stay on the course? I found motivation/inspiration in many things on this journey. I found motivation in inspirational quotes, asking people questions, learning new ways to do exercises like the Wii, classes, doing individual or group exercise, joining fitness apps like My Fitness Pal and Fit Bit, learning new ways to shop for grocery by reading the labels, hanging around people who also wanted to make changes by living a new healthier lifestyle, reading articles with common sense and that switching it up by doing different things works better for me so I want lose interest and also motivating myself by taking one day at a time! Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! I am still working on eating healthier because I DON'T DO DIETS but my eating habits has changed a lot! I found out that I could not have much sodium because it made me feel so bloated. I'm learning to cook more ways and enjoying healthy meals and snacks like a meat, vegetable and carbs and carrots or apple for snacks and when to eat them instead of grabbing quick things like chips (I love) and hotdogs at any time and a lot less. Learning to read the labels has taught me to stay within 5% on sodium. I am also learning how to work on portion size and founding foods that make me stay fuller longer. P.S. Like I love pizza and French fries. I use to indulge on them but now I have learned to enjoy them like having them every now and then and not as often because I am enjoying making healthier food and choices. What advice could you give to others that want the same results? I heard this in a movie (The Shack) : “A lil patience Please.....” So have a little patience please with yourself, make it fun, don't stress out and find out what best fit YOU! I had to learn that as I am going through this journey. Do not worry about what anybody else is doing you do the best you can. If you see someone doing 50 sit ups and all you can do is 5 sit ups just give it your best and be patient with yourself until you hit your goal or the 50 sit ups. Enjoy the small victories by giving yourself a praise, like when your clothes fit different, you feel better, you walked that extra mile or minutes, or you lost that half of pound (but don't overdo it in your celebration :)) Also recognize your bad days and then get back on track! How is this experience going to affect you going forward? The experience will affect me a lot during my life because I started this journey 10 years ago loosing over a 100lbs but this one is different because I learned a lot of new different ways to live better and more happier. I want to continue this journey and continue to work on my goals. I am learning to be more patient and to take it one day at a time with MYSELF! |
