Name:              C. Ximines
Improvement: 14 lbs. Weight Loss
Time:                 7 months
Program:          2020 Total Transformation Challenge

What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
One of my biggest challenge was finding a balance with college and other aspects of my life. I am usually very busy and I do not have a lot of time to make or plan meals. It was also hard to find food that worked for me that was healthy. I also needed to find an exercise routine that would help me meet my goals and could also fit to my schedule. I started this challenge to help me stay on track of eating healthier, losing weight and getting fit. During lockdown, I did my best to replicate exercises that I did at the Wellness Center and modify it for my home. Through trial and error I found a routine that worked for me and fits into my schedule. Eventually, exercising was not as hard as it seemed before.

What motivated you to stay on the course?
My desire to see a different version of my self-motivation to stay on track. After a few weeks I started to see results which made me continue with my journey.

Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
Yes my diet changed. I realized that I had some for intolerance that made me bloated. I am still trying to figure out what to avoid and what to eat but I found a few that work for me. I eat more fruits than usual because it keep me full and helps me curve my sugar cravings. I eat vegetables like spinach and baby lettuce. That helped me to de-bloat a lot. Foods like tomatoes, avocados, sweet potatoes, toast, oranges, and other eggs. I also avoided cow’s milk because that causes my face to breakout for months and causes bloating and other digestive issues. Instead, I drink almond milk, cashew milk and coconut milk- all unsweetened. I eat smaller meals and avoid pastries, basically anything that is in a wrapper. I also try to eat things that grow on trees or in the earth not man made sugary products.

What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
When you change your mindset of thinking that it’s something far fetched and instead claim it you will be more inclined to work for it. Find someone to keep you company even if it’s at the start of your journey until you feel more comfortable to do it alone. In the initial stage you will be experimenting quite a lot and it may seem as if you cannot find anything to work for you. Continue to try and you will find something that eventually give you results.

How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
My self-esteem has increased and I feel as if I can get whatever I put my mind to. I feel as if I have achieved something this year. I am learning to stop putting things off for later and to just work with what I have currently.
