Name: K. Vasquez
Location: JFK Medical Center. Atlantis, FL Improvement: 50 lbs Weight Loss / 8.1% Reduction of Body Fat Time: 3 Months Program: 2009 Total Transformation Challenge Biggest Challenges: The biggest challenge I faced was convincing myself to Just Do It. To say "I don't want to be unhealthy and heavy anymore" and start to take action In living a more healthy lifestyle. Making life changes by exercising daily, eating healthier foods, and keeping motivated was also challenging. On Motivation: My motivation was sparked by an extremely high blood pressure, and poor blood works. If I did not do something I was heading towards disaster. Seeing my blood levels dropping and physically seeing differences in my appearance was highly motivating. It was also great to be able to see advances in strength and stamina as the weeks went by. Dietary Changes: The diet I used changed from no carbohydrate high protein meals to good carbohydrate meals (Fruits, Vegetables, and Nuts). I stayed away from breads, pastas and processed foods. I also went from 3 meals a day to eating every 3 hours with smaller portions. I was told this kicks the metabolism in. Advice to Others: If someone wants the results, they have to commit to doing the work. This includes eating right and exercising. Try and surround yourself with people trying to obtain the same goals, just like the contestants in the Total Transformation Challenge. This helps with the motivation. Going Forward: I had lost weight in the past and then put it back on a few times. I guess you can say yo-yoing. A major motivation killer is putting back on weight. Losing weight is not easy. Easily obtainable if you do the work but not easy. This time around I really feel good about myself, joined a gym, and in order to stay on track work with a trainer. I can't say what lies ahead our future, but I like the one day at a time concept, today I choose to be healthy. |
