Name: M. Laing
Improvement: 20+ lbs. Weight Loss Time: 3 months Program: 2013 Total Transformation Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? One of my biggest obstacles during this challenge was not eating most of my native dishes I grew up with such as Rice and Pea, Curry Goat, Oxtail, etc. Another one was portion size control. I needed to cut down on my portions. What motivated you to stay on the course? Well, the thing that motivated me the most to start a change is when I did my blood work here at JFK and I was shocked with the results. My blood sugar was very high. I decided right there and then that I needed to do something for myself! After all, it’s not only about me, I have a very active 3 year-old son. I want to be healthy for him as well. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! My diet changed drastically. I eat a lot more healthy vegetables and fresh fruits in my meals. I also cut out soda. Now, all I drink is water. What advice could you give to others that want the same results? My advice is this: Go after what you want. Get motivated by whatever pushes you whether it’s your personal goal or something else. Most important thing, you must WANT and BELIEVE in your change. I am not saying it will be easy, but If you continue, I promise you, you WILL get good results. How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I am still going! I need to go down few dress sizes. My new norm is eating healthy and exercising at our Employee Wellness Center. I am doing this for me and for my family and I am loving it! |
