Name: S. Espinoza Location: Lake Worth, FL Improvement: 100 lbs Weight Loss Time: 6 months Program: 2012 Total Transformation Challenge / Summer Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)? My biggest challenge was taking the initiative to sign up for the challenge. I actually had gone up 2 years earlier to sign up, but when I found out that they needed to take my blood pressure and weight it bothered me greatly. I overcame this fear and decided to sign up for the challenge and am glad for doing so. What motivated you to stay on the course? Being part of a team motivated me to continue to stay on course. It helps to have a support group to monitor your progress. I actually got together with my Director, managers & friends and told them that I was going to participate in the challenge. If you put in the time and effort at the gym you will get results and those around you will notice the change. When my colleagues started complimenting me on my transformation it motivated me more to stay on course and work harder. If you really want to have fun with the Challenge, try to monitor your progress by taking pictures every now and then. You will be amazed of the results of all your hard work. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! Yes it did! I incorporated more fruits, soups and salads to my diet and eliminated sweets and soft drinks. Portion control is a key to losing weight as well along with drinking plenty of water, it will be hard at the beginning but eventually it will become habit. Remember that it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change! What advice could you give to others that want the same results? The consistency of a daily routine is a luxury that many of us take for granted so make time to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. The way to successfully lose weight is to change what we view as rewarding. Make healthy choices in eating and exercise at least 4-5 hours each week. (80% cardio, 20% strength). How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I’m excited with anticipation about what lies ahead for me as I work toward my goal. The experience is going to follow me throughout my life as I make better choices when it comes to the foods I consume and the amount of time I dedicate to living an active lifestyle. This Challenge may be over but my new life has just begun. |
