Name: J. Kramer
Location: JFK Medical Center. Atlantis, FL Improvement: 28 lbs Weight Loss / 5.2% Reduction of Body Fat Time: 3 Months Program: 2008 Total Transformation Challenge Changing the way I eat and what I eat and the portions. going to social events, are very difficult. eating the right foods, and healthy foods at a party can destroy my will power in a heartbeat. going out to dinner and ordering is another area that is hard. I have cut back going out to dinner. I order more salads and vegetables, when I dine out. sometimes I take a large salad with me to a party. this leaves me feeling less deprived. I allow myself some cheats. usually after weighing in on Friday, is when I will cheat. my big cheat is ice cream. I only eat light or sugar free. I try to eat before 7pm. I eat more little meals (smaller portions). giving up candy was one of the hardest things to do. I use to get up in the morning and pop chocolate in my mouth. now I try to eat fruit. I exercise, three to four times a week. making time for myself to do this was hard. I always was to busy and not physically able to exercise. these were my excuses. I felt like my body was physically handicapped. Rami showed me how to exercise with bad knees. I am strengthening them and they feel less injured. I was at a point in my life, where everything was an effort. on the weekends, I did not want to go anywhere or do anything. during the week, my body hurt. my ankles had edema, by the end of the day. my knees were the worst. I had surgery on the right knee and the left knee needs surgery. I could hardly walk. I was out of breath, also. now I have very little pain in my left knee. I am not out of breath. I feel much better. I still have more weight to lose and intend to stay working out. using the equipment at work and the trainer is outstanding. my body feels so much better, from my toes to my head. this motivates me to stick with the program. I was able to paint a room this last weekend. 12 weeks ago, I would not have been able to do this. the weight lost has left my body feeling better. I can do more physical activities. I change my eating habits I now eat fruit in the morning. I eat lunch. I also trimmed down my portions. I don't eat bread the way I use to. I stopped going out to dinner as much. I drink more water. I try to stay away from soda. I stopped eating late at night. I eat more salads. my advice, is to make up your mind to change, whether for health reasons, or self image. then plan a diet, or change in eating. working out is very important. this will help. working out gave me that extra boast I needed. I don't think about food as much as I use to. I have workout equipment at home, but I still was lazy. going up to the wellness center and having Rami there to encourage, and give me pointers was just what I needed. I was able to do challenges. I also had the support and encouragement of co-worker. they were there to cheer me on to complete the exercises. I can go to the wellness center straight from work. this way nothing distracts me. when I am done I can go home. there is no extra driving time involved. working out, I find also helps control my appetite. when I am finished, the afternoon is gone. I am not as hungry. I hope I will continue. my plan is to work out. I may not get to the gym much, but it will still be part of my lifestyle. I am getting older and need to stay healthy. I have more weight to lose. this is something I have always battled. I have more energy, and can do more active things on weekends. in the last two years I have taken weight off. this is my goal, to continue losing weight. |
