Name: J. Nelson Location: JFK Medical Center. Atlantis, FL Improvement: 60 lbs Weight Loss / 8.6 Reduction of Body Fat Time: 12+ Months Program: 2008 / 2009 Total Transformation Challenge / 2009 Summer Challenge Biggest Challenges: During this year's Challenge, I encountered a lot of the same obstacles as last year's. One of the most difficult was the decision between spending time with my husband and son, or working on myself in the gym. Luckily for me I have the most awesome husband who is very supportive in my "transformation." On Motivation: The biggest motivating factor is seeing the change in my body. I am wearing clothes and sizes that I have not been able to wear for over 10 years. Six months after having my baby, I thought that I was going to have my 200 pound body forever. I thought "this is it, this is how I am going to look for the rest of my life." And now that I am 65 pounds lighter and only 13 pounds away from my goal, I am even more motivated to stay on course. Dietary Changes: I have been on the Weight Watchers program since January 2008. I eat more fruit, drink tons of water, make healthier decisions when dinning out, and my portion sizes have been cut in half. Advice to Others: If there was any advice I could give to anyone trying to lose weight it would be to keep at it. Don't quit, no matter how hard or how impossible it seems. Don't give up. The weight didn't go on overnight, it certainly isn't going to come off overnight. Going Forward: Being a part of the Challenge has taught me that I am capable of more than I thought. During this year's Challenge I have run in three 5K's and plan to run in the Marathon of the Palm Beaches' half marathon this December. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I would call myself a "runner." Thank you Rami for pushing me when I didn't think I could go any further. J. Nelson at end of April 2009
