Name: R. Gershwin
Location: JFK Medical Center. Atlantis, FL
Improvement: Toning & Increased Strength
Time: 3 Months
Program: 2009 Total Transformation Challenge - Summer Challenge

The beginning challenges were not too bad, but as time went on they became increasingly difficult to the point where it did not become physically possible. An example would be on the chest press, I would have had to lift my body weight. I also think that being older and out of shape took me longer to begin any meaningful challenge. Of course I am hoping for new equipment which will make the challenge more “comfortable” as the old equipment like the air bike and treadmills are not easy to work on. On a personal note, I found time a limiting factor, frequently I had meetings in the evening and afterwards just too tired to start exercising. I also think there should be some “handicap” points for age or two different age categories.

I ultimately did it for myself and the knowledge that I can still meet a goal. There is personal satisfaction and of course not letting my t down.

I think this was my biggest disappointment. I was very careful with my diet especially the last 6 weeks and expected greater weight loss. I did take 2 inches off my waste. I followed my Jenny Craig diet and was eating approximately 1400 calories a day. I did work out vigorously on the weights so perhaps there is some muscle weight. As you know I made the 6% weight loss next to the last day of the challenge, and I thought it would happen sooner.

Stay the course, it is not easy but the end results are worth it. Make some type of schedule so you allow time for the exercising and challenges.

I enjoy coming up to the wellness center and will continue exercising and doing the abs class (I especially like this). I am also going to do my best to continue following a more sensible diet, but will enjoy pizza once in a while.

One other point, I did meet new people in the wellness center. These are people who I never knew or saw but never spoke with in the hospital. I find that coming up to the wellness center is also like a social hour where you get to meet and know the individuals and later speak with them during the normal work day. I believe this is a real plus.

FINALLY, RAMI YOU ARE NOT SUCH A BAD GUY DESPITE THE LEG LIFT INCIDENT  AND ALSO THE PUSH UPS WHICH YOU ALSO PULLED THE SAME STUNT ON ME!!!
See you next week.
Dr. G.
P.S.  We will keep pushing for those new treadmills.
