Name:                         J. Bender
Location:                    West Palm Beach, FL
Improvement:            20 lbs Weight Loss
Time:                          3 months
Program:                    2012 Total Transformation Challenge

What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
The biggest challenge for me was portion control. I didn't eat all that bad before TTC 2012. I could, however, be eating better! I always ate a lot. The other challenge was getting the miles, but after I learned that you could bike I found the miles easier to attain each week and found myself doing more than the prescribed miles at the end of the week.

What motivated you to stay on the course?
What motivated me the most was probably the mirror. I had been unhappy with my size as long as I could remember and I was getting tired of it. I decided instead of feeling bad about it all the time and in turn eating more, I decided to do something about it. After learning about the TTC, and after some prodding to get me up to the EWC, I lost five pounds in the first week and from then on it was on. Just striving to be more health is what motivated me most.

Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
My diet change consisted of switching from a lot of prepared food and meals-in-a-box to an all-fresh produce and purchasing meat fresh from the deli as opposed to frozen prepared meat. Instead of eating a sugary cereal in the morning I'd make a smoothie with bananas and berries etc. Instead of buying lunch, I'd bring some tuna fish or a salad from home.

What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
The best advice I can give is to not give up. There may be times when the weight does not change or you may even gain a pound, but always strive for success. If you gain a pound, try to lose at least three by the following weigh in. Keep your head up and give it your all and you're bound to achieve.

How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
This experience is going to make me push harder on my next TTC. I know what to do know, it's just a matter of sticking to my goals and applying the knowledge I have acquired from this program. I learned I can lose 20 pounds in twelve weeks, so I'm shooting to lose another 20 lbs on the next 12 weeks.
