Name:                         P. Howard
Improvement:           10 lbs Weight Loss
Time:                           3 months
Program:                    2015 Total Transformation Challenge

What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
Anytime there was some type of change in my routine, I would have to shuffle something around to fit some type of activity into the day.

Sometimes this would entail going for a 10 mile bike ride at 6 am or 9 pm depending on the circumstances of the day.   Friends or family can also be a challenge, they may not understand how important it is for you to want to feel your best and do the right/healthy things to get there.

They may not be happy with you that you do not want to go out to dinner or to the movies to sit on your butt! And they also may not want to join with you to be active.  Do it anyways.

What motivated you to stay on the course?
Once I started feeling better and lost a few pounds it definitely motivated me to keep going.   I had lost 5 pounds 2 months before the challenge started however
I knew that I needed the accountability of that Friday weigh in at the Wellness Center.

Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!

I now plan my meals and always have food with me (alot!).  One of the reasons for gaining weight is that I would eat anything once I got hungry to make the low blood sugar feeling go away.

Once I formed the habit of having good food with me at all times, I would eat on an apple at 3 pm instead of walking down the hall to get chocolate chip cookies or a chocolate chip muffin.  Cookies and muffins are so deceptive, they look good but they take away and rob you of your energy and make you feel worse.

What advice could you give to others that want the same results?

Sometimes we tell ourselves things that are not true.  Things like “I don’t have time for that” or “I’m too tired”. I would tell myself this whenever I thought of doing something good for myself. As I was sitting on the couch one night I realized how untrue that was because I had time to sit on the couch.

How is this experience going to affect you going forward?

I am going to stay focused.  I will not let the temptations and deceptions of life lie to me in any way!
