What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
My biggest challenge was my eating habits. Years of not eating the right type of food nor the right way put me in a difficult position for change. But a little bit of discipline, dedication, and lots of support from the Employee Wellness Center helped out tremendously.
What motivated you to stay on the course?
What motivated me stay on course was years of me being unhappy with my appearance. I was tired of being that person looking in the mirror and saying: “I need to lose weight”. My motivation came from within. A voice that kept saying “I can do it” and I did!
Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
My diet changed completely. I substituted rice for vegetables, I reduced the amount of unhealthy carbs in my daily calories, and if I did eat bread, rice, or pasta, it was always before 2PM. This allowed my body to break it down and burn it rather than store it.
What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
My advice is to stay focused on the goal you want to achieve. Wanting to lose weight and have a nice body consists of changing your whole lifestyle around. You have to dedicate yourself and constantly remind yourself. There will be days where you will feel like not wanting to do anything, but then remember the person you were unhappy with and focus on the person you want to be. YOU CAN DO IT!
How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
This entire experience has affected my life to the point that I will never go back to my old eating habits. I now realized the importance of eating healthy. After all “You are what you eat”. I will continue to apply what I have learned in this transformation to my lifestyle in the future. I am stronger today than I ever was. I was living before, but now I feel ALIVE!
