​What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
The biggest challenge I had when joining the course was on the aspect of nutrition. Coming from a family who loves eating out, instant meals & microwaveable, and buffet, the first question that came to mind was “What am I going to eat? Do I even have time to prepare my meals?” Hence adhering to a diet was a struggle at the beginning.
The other obstacle was self-doubt. “Can I really do this? or do I even have the strength to perform all the task and complete the challenge?" But I have endured and persevered and I am getting closer to the finish line.
 
What motivated you to stay on the course?
Staying on the course was not an easy feat. However, as it progressed, I started noticing changes. I am more agile and light. I don’t get tired easily. I have more energy, waking up early to do my morning walk and to hop on the bike after a twelve- hour shift.
And as I shed pounds week after week, it made me feel really good about myself. It made me realize that I can do it and it is such a great feeling to fit into my favorite clothes again.
For every pound I lost, I gained tons of strength and positivity, self-confidence, friends and acquaintances at the gym; all of which are my motivation to keep going.
 
Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed!
Absolutely! I have transitioned from big servings and buffet to prepping my own meals. My cravings for sweets have significantly reduced. I used to consume a pint of ice cream in one sitting, now, I don't even remember the last time I had one. Whenever we are dining out, I am mindful of the “yays and the nays” as well as watching my portions. I also have cut down my consumption of rice. I haven’t totally “cleaned the clutter” yet, but I can proudly say I’ve resisted the temptation of grabbing something from the pantry. I am now into the habit of eating healthy and balanced meal everyday.
 
What advice could you give to others that want the same results?
  1. You must be ready and willing to start the challenge. It will make it easier to surpass the obstacles if the desire is there.
  2. Set achievable and meaningful goals. Do not be discouraged when you don’t see the effects right away, change doesn’t happen overnight.
  3. Regular exercise and healthy, balanced nutrition are the key to achieving your goals. 4. Have fun and sweat it out!
 
How is this experience going to affect you going forward?
All the positive and healthy benefits I gained during this challenge will inspire me to keep going and staying active. I will strive harder to reach and maintain my desired weight. Also, knowing that I can lose extra poundage, I am excited to being able to eat my favorite foods again, in moderation of course (will never be going back to my old ways of bingeing because I know the weight will go right back in). I will do everything to stay fit and live a healthier and happier life.
