Name: S. Spence Improvement: Weight Loss & Body Fat Reduction Time: 12 Weeks / 2026 Summer Challenge What was your biggest challenge / obstacle (s)?
My biggest obstacle was not comparing myself with the social media outlook on how much weight I should be losing (and how fast I should be losing it) or how much exercise I should be doing weekly. I think I struggled with my self confidence when the scale only moved a little bit one week, and telling myself I did not try hard enough. What motivated you to stay on the course? My motivation is my son. Playing with him on the playground and getting so tired so quickly, I knew I needed to change things. And now, it’s easier to run and play with him on the playground or just play with him on the ground. Did your diet change? If so, How? Please be detailed! Oh yes! My diet did a 360. I was barely eating breakfast, usually just coffee, now I eat a huge healthy breakfast with about 30-40g of protein. I would always eat lunch at the cafeteria at work, now I meal prep for the week of healthy carbs, veggies and lean protein. My snacks consist of fruit and other healthy items, where before I would always crave a candy bar or chips. Before this challenge, dinner was always starchy carbs, or even fast food some nights. Now I eat my protein and veggies for dinner. And some nights I have a small piece of dark chocolate! It’s a big change, I watch my calories, fats, and carbs, and always try to make sure I reach my protein goal! What advice could you give to others that want the same results? When you don’t want to go to the gym, that’s when you really need to push yourself to go. There was plenty of times I really did not want to go, but I would force myself to go, and I would always feel so much better afterwards. I would always tell myself “Later in the evening, am I going to regret not going to the gym”. Most of the time the answer is yes, and then I force myself to go. How is this experience going to affect you going forward? I will be continuing the healthy eating, and keeping up with my exercises and working out! I definitely have more weight I want to lose so this past summer challenge has really helped me focus (and will continue to focus) on becoming a better me. |
